DeveloperDeveloperDeveloper day the second

There's another DDD planned for 22nd October at Microsoft in Reading. The last one was really good, so I intend to go again, even though I've got a gig in the evening.

I feel like a proper blogger at last, as I've just seen the announcement on Craig's site, and I'm blogging it before it made it onto the official site. Jonathan, who did the site for the last one, is probably really busy selling unwanted fondue sets on ebay, so I sneaked in while I had the chance.

They're asking for speakers, which I secretly quite fancy doing, but I don't know enough about anything in particular, so I'm not going to volunteer. Talking to a load of geeks who are much cleverer than me about things I know only a little about sounds like a great way to get blogged about though :-/

Helen, sorry again I gave you no warning about the last one, so here's plenty of notice for the next one.

You should do it. Maybe something about what you've found moving to ASP.NET 2.0? Or something about the benefits of code generation, wiki documentation or unit testing?

I'll come see your talk :)

You're right I was on my honeymoon and the DDD II - internal name ;) for DeveloperDeveloperDeveloper 2 - is just ramping up on the planning stages.

The date is pretty much agreed and the line-up will be organised in the coming weeks.

If you'd like to speak, I can definately recommend it. I had great fun and everyone there is interested in learning.

I'm planning on revamping the site, etc. at the weekend and over the next few weeks... so expect some new content soon!

Thanks for your encouragement guys; I might actually consider it after all.

I'm still not sure how I could fill a whole session with any of the things I know a little bit about though.

Jonathan: hope you had a great honeymoon - isn't it great not having a wedding to plan anymore :-)

How about talking on the theme "How to write a nice checks system for a super project involving biscuits and a thoroughly wonderful project team" ?

Good idea! I think I'd focus on the wonderful project team, and maybe outline the rules of volleycock, and its magical powers of relieving stress.

I might miss out the bit about the checks system, as I had to write it in an extreme hurry; I wasn't allowed to test it, so I'm not very proud of what I produced.

Oh, and I'd definitely mention the biscuits. I might even give out some samples.

The plan is to have both 30 minutes and 60 minutes slots available to encourage new speakers.

We're aiming to get potential speakers to submit session outlines and then have the community vote on what they would like to see on the day.

Should be updating the site this weekend or early next week. (My broadband is down at the moment which isn't helping things)
